A discussion which echo my thoughts about Pakistan
In two of my older posts, I did discuss some of thought on Pakistan:
http://gshanky.wordpress.com/2009/05/24/why-dr-manmohan-singh/ (Though he turns out to be a big disappointment
)
and
http://gshanky.wordpress.com/2008/11/29/stand-up-as-one-as-indian/ (after two and half year we seem to be in the same situation and no immediate solution or preparedness in sight)
Recently, I have had a chance to read few of the articles from both side of the border and it turns out to be quite an experience
1. Aatish Taseer in WSJ (it all started with this article)
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304911104576445862242908294.html
2. Ejaz Haider from Pakistan
http://tribune.com.pk/story/212319/aatishs-personal-fire/
3. Our own Shashi Tharoor’s response

4. Response to the response from Pakistan
a) Marvi Sirmed
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=20117\25\story_25-7-2011_pg3_4
http://marvisirmed.com/?p=1795
b) Ejaz Haider
http://tribune.com.pk/story/217721/its-not-just-mr-tharoor/
c) By Feisal Naqvi
http://tribune.com.pk/story/217051/with-friends-like-these/
4. Shashi Tharoor is back with answers

Most of us in India understand that “…have no desire to reintegrate it into “Akhand Bharat” — indeed, the demographic, social and political evolution of Pakistan since 1947 makes it quite unsuitable for any such re-absorption. “
AND
“..there is absolutely nothing Pakistan possesses that India wants.”
I wish people on both side of the border come to terms and feel at peace with the reality of partition.
We are wasting our money on Military expenses when there are thousands of hungry people in the streets.

First SRMS Alumni Meet 2011, Bangalore, Poem
Its been more than a year that i have blogged about anything. Time really flies
That post was also about SRMS Alumni and i am blogging again about the same initiative
I will update more about the meet in my later posts. Before that i want to share a beautiful poem by my friend and batch mate Gaurav Garg. He has completed this poem during and after the SRMS Alumni Meet in Bangalore. It was a wonderful experience to see the ‘SRMS Parivar’ together, to know their progress and to see them growing leap and forth. Gaurav Garg remember the old days with his poem.
More to come soon about the meet soon
SRMS Alumni Community Initiative !
- Building a core Alumni Committee / Association having members from each batch & stream.
- Appoint multiple co-coordinators from these core members to facilitate main functions & initiatives at International, National & Zonal level. For example; alumni level event organizer at city level, Alumni Meets, Interface between college & Alumni etc
- There is already a web page at college web site http://122.252.234.221/srmscet/alumni.aspx but it doesn’t work & lack functionality.
- We already have many Orkut/Facebook/Yahoo Groups for interaction but without much active & real time interaction.
- Hence, we have come up an idea to built independent Web Site exclusively for SRMS Alumni.
- We are already working in this direction and need more People & Resources to be part of this initiative & making it a success.
- Till the time site comes up (Beta version should be out in June first week), we can have everybody on board at Yahoo/Orkut/Facebook Groups listed below.
time is feeting….time is fleeting….;)
realized it few days back. My kiddo cousin Googled ‘Shankhdhar’ , got this blog as top result
I was like “Ohh, the next Gen is here” And yeah, delighted to know the Google result
She has spent two year in now famous coaching town Kota, ready to join a Engg. college now. I have not seen her for two years now. I used to teach her English rhythms when she is sweet little girlie, used to make sure that “Lakri ki kathi, kathi pe ghoda..” must play in her b’day etc
One among them lived with me for a year during my Engg. final year. Now is in Allahabad and have a very flashy orkut profile
My younger sis & mom r living with me now a days. They ll be here for one month. This is first time after 10 years, i am living with them for continuous 30-40 days. My younger sis (She is the youngest one among three of us) surprise me everyday with her comments/feedback on things.
I am the eldest among all my cousins & have seen them growing up from a new born chid to a 10-12 year. But last 10-11 years gone like a flash. They all are now grown up & ready to take on world. Their bugging & questions really amaze me or i should say shock me.
More to come
Miscellaneous….
humm its been long time i have updated something and i think u can count me in those ‘rarely’ blogging blogger
a lot of exciting things has happened since last 7-8 months
I visited my home town twice and its refreshing as always,
I had a lot of memorable get togethers,
also changed my work place and
moved on to one of the biggest technology vendors (Hewlett-Packard) in helping them to provide end to end high performance solutions on Oracle Applications.
The sad part is that i missed my home on both Deepawali & Holi ![]()
but my darling wife and Bangalore Gang made all the occasions veryfabulous and we had real fun
Lot of my friends got married and the list is still going on
I was able to manage to attend few but felt very sad & sorry for not attending few at the same time
Guys around had already started giving good news of being proud parents
I’m loving all the cutie pies for spreading their lovely smiles in the family.
Life seems to have moved back to my college days as
I have to wake up with a target to catch the Office bus at 07:30 am for a 1 hour 15 minutes bus journey (believe me it’s really difficult
)
Moreover I have to wrap up things by 5 to catch the same bus back home .
I’ m loving the discipline at my work place excluding 3 hour bus ordeal every day ![]()
at the same time feeling ardent about the changes, I’m not sure if its same across the globe or only Indian phenomenon
but here within a year in ur job and people start asking”
aur kis company main ho aaj kal?
accha abhi bhi wahin ho !!
and i was like “Why should i be anywhere else?”
I didn’t have a reason
I never thought about life outside Oracle.
I had a sweet manager
helping & always jolly-good team
with greatest of all opportunities in my basket to work on latest of Oracle technologies.
Facing new challenges everyday
with a new & fresh day every morning as an incentive.
It was like family and very difficult to move on
also it was my first company hence there lies an emotional attachment !!
but a time came and i moved on and I got something worth to move out.
Though I had to compromise with few things.
The new role brought a lot of business exposure including latest technology experience.
did anybody say “What about the money you sober man?” ![]()
yeh that is just a bonus ![]()
somebody once said “Money is not the most important thing in life !!”
on personal front ….
humm its personal so nothing much to write here
hehehehe

King Khan detained!
not sure if this is related to Fox buying the rights of ’My Name is Khan’
publicity stunt guys?
but this is too much to digest
After Mr. Kalam, they do it with Shahrukh Khan
Can we have a system in place?
Why Dr. Manmohan Singh…
the excitement and enthusiasm has sunken since my last post that post has come from within. Really, this time i don’t want a BJP or 3rd front government. There was a feeling from within that BJP should first learn a lesson or two about India & Indian democracy & its people before claiming Delhi. The people for whom government matters, who go there & vote in sun light, stand in long queues, gave their verdict in support of Dr.Maanmohan Singh & Congress not for Mr. L. K. Advani or BJP. I am not a congress fan and know congress & Mr. Singh aren’t best and ideal but they were better option.
I have received a lot of criticism from friends colleagues relatives about the tone of the post. But it came from a heart who saw
- girls running in open and some rowdy boys beating them, pulling their hair
- rowdy & criminals with no credentials talking about Indian culture & trying to teach people Hinduism
- politician talking about Hinduism and their rights to hide their inability to perform, inability to deliver, inability to come with alternate policies
M J Akbar has written recently that India is secular because Indian Hindus wants it to be a secular country not because Indian Muslims wants it a secular country.
If Hindu wants India to be a Hindu Rastra or they believe in BJP’s future policy for this country then with 80% Hindu population, BJP must have been always a single largest party after Ayodhya
But results are there for everybody to see. I accept that we all have bad memories from past, of brutal conflict, of massacre, of hate. But founder of this nation decided to move on and build a new country. A country where everybody live in peace & harmony.
There can be a long debate on all these issues and every country & culture has a history of wars & conflicts. But to all those who still believe in hatred & separation “Do you want your children & grand children to live in an environment like Pakistan”
As i have said earlier we don’t want to be a Pakistan! Do we?
Other than this, BJP didn’t promise anything new and 3rd front guys himself doesn’t know what they want for the country or even for their state, their region, their language. Most of the 3rd front politicians raised with help of politics based on division by caste, region, language or religion.
Best of luck & all the wishes for the new government. As Motu Mittal rightly said in his comment on previous post “Don’t think India will be changed over night” but we can always hope for better.
No Extremist Please !!
Early result of inidan election shows that :
Development will be the first thing people have in mind
How can you expect vote while being against a Nuclear Power?
No Togaria & Muthalik Supporters Please!
A 18 year youth here don’t give an ear to his parents dictates then how can Advani Ji expect his vote while supporting Moral Policing?
No Drama about terrorism or national Security!
You need not be wicked & dishonest to be successful in Indian Politics!
Mr. Manmohan Singh Ji has proved that being simple, honest & intellectual can be your advantage to be at the top post!!
to be continued….
